Laurie Wiegand-Jackson attended the UN COP27 Conference on Climate Change in Sharm El-Sheikh Egypt as a representative of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
Ms. Wiegand-Jackson serves on the Board of Directors of the AEE and was joined by Fotouh Al Ragom, President of AEE and Alain Aoun from AEE Lebanon chapter.
The AEE-sponsored group attended many sessions, including presentations by former US Vice President Al Gore, the Rocky Mountain Institute, various countries and NGO’s. Topics included workforce development, data solutions for tracking large emitters of carbon, just and equitable responses for countries most impacted by climate change, and women’s empowerment initiatives in the clean energy transition.
Ms Wiegand-Jackson noted that “In addition to being an amazing opportunity to learn and network, the location was lovely and the local people were very welcoming. I strongly encourage anyone who can attend to be a part of this amazing annual global event and I look forward toparticipating again in the future!”
